So all that rain yesterday kept me inside and I actually got a lot of work done. So i'm wondering whether or not people will work and learn better if they have no other alternative.
It does help learning and all intellectual work, I think, to minimize distractions. On the other hand, it's important to have a balanced life -- friends, activity, music, beauty -- or what's learning for?
Maybe the trick is to be very selective about your non-study diversions. I used to eat lots of inexpensive chocolate; now I only eat very small quantities of the extremely expensive and high quality stuff. I'm more satisfied, and less portly, than the other way.
Nearest source of even semi-great chocolate is Woodburn's in Solomons (not quite in the county, but close). I think Giant in California carries G&B, which is highly comestible though not fairly traded as far as I can tell.
